We couldn't see ourselves braving the elements with Witten this time around. After the trip to CO last summer, we decided to wait a little while longer to go camping with him. So, instead of heading out there on Friday night and staying through Sunday morning, we got up on Saturday morning, got ready for the day, packed a lunch, and drove out to Cedar Lake.
It took about half an hour to get into the park once we were there because there was a line to pay and get our permit. Once we were there, we found the two campsites where everyone was staying, and we headed down to the picnic tables.
It was already lunch time by the time we got there, and we had a very hungry little boy on our hands, so we all sat and ate lunch. (Everyone else had finished a very early lunch. They were up early with the sun which meant an early breakfast and consequently, an early lunch.)
We spent most of our day hanging around the fire pit talking. Witten had a good time trying out all of the chairs. He even found one that looked just like his.
Caleb and Audria showed up a few minutes after we got there, and they had to set up their tent, but they got out their chairs and relaxed in the circle with the rest of us before Caleb recruited some of the guys for help.
Eventually, the guys all went fishing, and the girls were left with all of the kids. We went for a couple of walks around the circle we were camping in, and Witten enjoyed practicing going up and down the stairs.
When they boys got back, it was time for dinner. Since we weren't sure what the plan was with everyone else, we didn't feel comfortable eating the food they brought, SO, we headed into town to get some dinner from Jack in the Box. We brought it back out to the campground, and ate with the rest of the group. 
While we were gone, they got the campfire going so that they could start cooking. There were lots of burgers and hot dogs being grilled.
I think the favorite thing all the way around though was the s'mores. Witten missed out on this part. We took him to the car after everyone was done eating, and he went to sleep in his seat.
By about 8, it felt like mid-night, so Mitch and I packed it in and headed back home. It had long since turned dark, and everyone started seeming pretty tired.We had a lot of fun, and in some ways, I wish we would have stayed the night. I know that I would regret it all week though when I was tired from a lack of sleep over the weekend. I haven't been sleeping well anyway, we just found out that I'm pregnant, and that was a hard secret to keep over the weekend!)
