Witten didn’t get up until almost 10am. We got him fed, got ourselves ready, and picked up around the house in case CSS called about a showing for the house. Then, we loaded up the car and headed to a field of Bluebonnets. We weren’t as organized as I would have hoped, so it took us 4-5 tries to finally get out the door. Apparently, while he was waiting on us to back out, Witten gulped down his entire cup of water. It wasn’t a big deal though because he didn’t fuss too much about it on the way. We decided to stop for a refill on the way back.
At the field, there was a steady stream of families coming and going, and we were having a hard time not getting them in our photos at fist. We finally moved back beyond where they were all stopping, and managed to keep a fairly decent backdrop. Unfortunately, Witten wasn’t feeling much more cooperative today than he was yesterday.
I couldn't get ANY smiling pictures, so we tried a few shots of him walking through the field.
Next, Daddy got down and tried to cheer him up with some tickling. He wouldn't look up, but at least he was smiling!
Next was my turn to try, and again, we got him smiling, but not looking at the camera.
This was a mini tantrum...
followed by a bigger on. The ground was uneven, and he was afraid to walk on it. 
Some of the best pictures of the day were of his back because you couldn't see the constant scowl painted on his face!
He did enjoy looking at the flowers. Unfortunately, he enjoyed destroying them more. This was taken after getting on to him for picking the petals off of them and doing quick sweeping motions with his hands all around them in a "seek and destroy" manner. Picture a kid knocking down a tower of blocks!
We did manage to get a couple of gems with him looking up with open eyes AND smiling both at the same time.
This chair was from a toddler set that I had when I was little. My parents got it out last summer for Witten to play with at their house. He really likes it, and the chair is great for pictures!
When we got back in the car, Witten was most definitely ready for water, but we were unfortunately still out! I decided to stop at the Chick-fil-A by the Wal-Mart in Mansfield. We entered the highway from Broad only to find that the Walnut Creek/Debbie Lane exit was closed. Leave it to Mansfield to not tell you that an exit is closed until AFTER you have entered the highway! This is not the first time We've had this problem here.
So, we headed on to Sonic instead for some water and grilled cheese. I'm not sure what was wrong with the water, perhaps is was because we put it in his sippy cup, but Witten was NOT happy with it. He proceeded to scream the rest of the way home.
When we got home, we got him in his seat for lunch. He was very upset from the car ride, and refused to eat. At one, we got him down with not one bite in his belly, and let him play until it was time to leave for the neighborhood Easter egg hunt.
Witten was in MUCH better spirits during the hunt, and they had it spread over two yards. The first was for the big kids, but they had a yard for little kids too so that they didn't get trampled by the bigger ones. Witten LOVED picking up the eggs. He got about a dozen, and would have picked up more, but we managed to slow him down so that the other kids could get some too. I think that in the end, it was all pretty even.
This egg was fairly distressing to my OCD child. It was broken, so it wouldn't stay closed. Eventually, I got it closed long enough to make it home.
This is perhaps my FAVORITE picture of the day! I just love the way these two are looking at each other.
All the kids were told that some of the eggs had tickets in them for prizes, so the kids sat down and looked through them to see if they were winners.
Daddy helped Witten look through his eggs. He wasn't the recipient of a ticket, but that's probably better because he was really too young for the prizes.
They had some snacks after the hunt, and there were some really cute egg shaped cakes. One was gone by the time I got a picture, but you get the idea.
Finally, it was time to walk back home and take a nap. It was pretty hot outside, so we were all drenched with sweat by the time we got home, luckily, the house has managed to stay cool today, so we didn't need to turn on the air. It does make me quite worried about this summer though!
