We have come to my favorite time of the year at school! We started or drama unit last Monday, and my kids LOVE the stories in this unit. We started by reading a Sherlock Holmes play that they loved, and then read a farce. Once we were finished with that one, EVERYONE knew what a farce was because we listened to it on CD so they could hear the over-the-top acting that made it a farce. This week we're reading an old Twilight Zone episode, and finishing out the week with the video to that story.

In the middle of the week, we get to do an internet scavenger hunt for Charles Dickens because we will begin A Christmas Carol after Thanksgiving. We will finish up the semester by watching A Christmas Carol on DVD.

My kids did a great job of acting out the parts in the Sherlock Holmes story. They used lots of inflection, and it was so fun to listen to. Most years I get it read in a monotone voice. I think we're going to enjoy the rest of the year because it's mainly reading units, and they seem to enjoy reading out loud in class.
It really is "the most wonderful time of the year!!!"
