Yesterday, we took the kids to a birthday party for some good friends of our. While we were at the party, Mitch dropped Shae off at her respite provider because we decided to take a road trip, and didn't want to drive around with a 4 month old for that long.
We left straight from the party and drove to St. Louis. We did make a few stops along the way though. Since it's a road trip, we decided to stop wherever looked interesting. We saw signs for this place, and knew that it was going to be a stop.
Thirty minutes later, everyone was pottied, our pies were done, and we were back on the road. But, not for long. One of my favorite places to stop and eat in Oklahoma is City Bites. I sure do miss that place and their HUGE cookies!
No more big stops after this. We needed to get to the hotel and get rested for our big day. We had a lot planned for St. Louis and only one day to do it all in.
The next morning, we got up and went to Grant's Farm. It's free to get in, though you have to pay to park. I was surprised by the line to get in. Turns out, you take a little train ride through an animal park to get from the parking lot to the entrance, so that's why it took so long.

We started out by going to the bird show. It wasn't my fave because I'm not a fan of birds. I guess I didn't get any pictures of it. It clearly wasn't photo worthy.
We stopped by the elephants before going to the elephant show.
Since it's Father's Day, they asked for a daddy and child duo to be a part of the show. I was so excited when they chose Mitch and Witten.
They actually got to feed the elephant an orange!
After the show, we needed to stop for lunch.
Reese enjoyed wearing the backpack for a while.
Witten was big enough to ride the camel. He loved it so much.
Reese is pretty much afraid of everything that's not human, so she wasn't too sure about it. She did eventually reach out and touch the camel.
Although we were exhausted, this was to be our only day I St. Louis, so we went from Grant's Farm to the arch.
On the way out, we went and saw the Clydesdale horses. We got a family picture in front of one, but they wouldn't let us take our own pictures, so I can't put it on here.
We decided to go up in the arch. Even though we had a designated time, we had to wait in line for about 30-45 minutes. This was a little area with things for the kids to play with. Witten and Reese are sitting on a scale.
We shoved ourselves into a little tiny car where we had to sit with our knees touching each other. (This is a horrible picture from my phone, but you can get the idea.)
The kids liked looking out of the windows. It was SO crowded in there. I was just ready to get back out! We only spent about 15 minutes in there and then headed back down. It was INSANE!
