We stayed in 4 hotels while we were in Germany. For those of you who don't know, Europeans don't sleep in the same bed, so some hotels go to the cutesy of smooshing two beds together for their American guests, but you still have separate blankets and sheets.
The hotel in Munich was downtown, smack in the center of everything. We couldn't have gotten better place! It had foam mattresses, so sleeping in the middle was very comfortable because the mattress was consistent all the way across the bed.

The second place has a kind of funny story. The man, who didn't speak English, offered us our choice of two rooms. We picked one and brought our bags up. It had the same type of bed as the other one, and a beautiful view.

We left our bags, took the key, and went into town to have a look around and eat. When we got back, there were keys in the door. We opened it, and our bags were missing. Apparently the lady of the house wanted us in the other room, so she moved our bags over. We still had the same view, but it was harder to see because the desk was in the way. Our patio also overlooked the parking instead of the mountains, but it wasn't a big deal because we didn't use it accept as a fridge because it snowed a lot. You will notice though that the beds have two boards in between them, and they were not foam mattresses. They were regular ones with the piping on the sides, so even though we tried to fill in the crack with a blanket, the mattresses would not allow us to sleep in the middle of the bed.

The hotel was filled with all kinds of (what my interior design teacher would call) useless uglies. The dining room had tons of things on the walls and hanging between it and the room where we checked in and out.
It was interesting trying to have conversations with the woman because she didn't speak English, and I don't speak much German, although it got better as the week went on.

When we got to Garmisch, where my dad used to live, we found our hotel quickly and without much incident. It also had a beautiful view of the mountains, although our room view was of a big dirt hill out back.
If you'll notice, we have a MUCH larger crack between our beds at this hotel. Oh well! It was still very nice, and the woman was very helpful. She told us some of the places to go, and some to avoid.
When we got back to the airport in Munich, we stayed at the Sheraton. It was really nice, and we ended up with two foam mattresses butted up against each other again. I did hit my head on that slanted ceiling once, but other than that, it was really nice!
