Today is Brought to You By the Letter A

Today, Witten started learning his letters.  He is SO interested in reading, and when we read to him he turns to look at us and study our faces and eyes to see what we're reading.  He knows that we're reading the words now, so often he brings me things with words on them to read to him.  Sometimes he brings me books that aren't stories, and then asks me to read them.  I tell him that there are no words, so he opens up the first page and points to words.  These are usually books for colors, body parts, animals, etc.

We learned about the letter A today, and Witten found flashcards around the house throughout the day that were on things that start with A.  The first item he found was my arm.
At lunchtime, we opened the fridge and found an A on the apple juice.  This was a big treat because he normally only gets juice on Sundays!
He also had ants on a log with his lunch.  (It's a bit of a stretch, but it was hard to find things around the house that started with A that weren't all some type of apple product!)
We tried out celery a few nights ago because Witten's not a very picky eater, but I think it was too hard for him.  He wasn't a big fan.  I thought that maybe the peanut butter would help, but he just ate the raisins off and left the rest.  Oh well, at least he tried it.
