Witten has passed the second step to coming home. His nasal cannula was removed today, and he is breathing great. The only problem is that he is still breathing too fast sometimes. That is a problem because when he's breathing fast, he can't take a bottle for fear of his sucking it into his lungs instead of his stomach. Since eating from a bottle full time is step 3, we'll have to see how quickly he adjusts and can slow his breathing down. He's done great with the bottle when he's breathing slow enough to take it, so I'm praying that this is just an adjustment to breathing on his own, and he'll calm down in a day or two. There's really no telling though.
As I said, the bottle is step 3, so we are on the last hurtle to getting home!
