Boating With Friends

A couple of Sundays ago we all went out on Scott's boat. Even though we ate fast food after church in order to get out on the lake faster, we still didn't get out there until after 4. Our first adventure was finding a truck to pull the boat because although Scott got a boat, he didn't buy a truck, and we were pretty sure his little Altima wasn't going to do the trick. I have a trailblazer, but no electric breaks, and no hook up for it. Joanna's dad ended up loaning us his truck, and Mitch was delegated to drive it. It was quite difficult task getting the boat out of storage. The door is JUST big enough for the boat to fit through, which meant no margin for error. After a few tries, we ended up having to take one of the bumper poles off to get it out, but once we did, we were on our way. When we got there, there was a line for getting the boat in, so Jo and I went around all of those cars to find a place to park, then we walked along side the truck. We finally got in the water, and Scott drove us to his favorite part of the lake. He had bought a raft that we could lay on and be dragged by the boat, but when Mitch and Julie tried to put it together, we found a big rip in it, and had to put it away for that Scott could return it.
Scott's birthday was earlier in the week, so when he got out of the water, we presented him with this "birthday cake". It was all melted, and the candle wouldn't light because of the wind, so he just pretended to blow it out. Then Jo and Julie presented him with this little birthday gift. It's a skipper bag (that looks an awful lot like a kids blue purse.) It came with a sunglasses case and a couple of other little things.
Everyone but me and Misty got on the knee board, and they all were able to get up. We were having a lot of fun, and I was enjoying my job of photographer when Julie got smacked in the head by the board, and we had to come in so that she could get it taken care of. It was pretty deep, and everyone wanted her to go get stitches, but she got some liquid band aid, and that really helped. I said decided that maybe we should have filled Scott's purse with medical supplies instead since he didn't have a first aid kit on the boat!
(That's blood running down her face from her eyebrow to her chin.)

When we got back to the garage, we tried to get the boat in, but the truck wasn't strong enough to get the boat up the hill because the boat trailer has it's own breaks, and Scott didn't know how to turn those off, so we were working against those. We ended up parking the boat down the hill so that a friend of Scott's could put it away.
I always raised the hitch on my parents camper when I was little, so I asked Scott if I could do it on his boat and he said sure. There was a slight problem though because he forgot to lock the wheel. The whole trailer came crashing down, but luckily it landed on the spare tire, so it didn't break the trailer or the boat. We had to get a jack out though, and lift the front so that we could get the wheel back down and locked in place. Then we got the trailer back up.
All in all, it was a great day, and here's a picture of Scott holding his gift.
