Sunday morning was spent finishing up the chicken salad from the wedding, and finding out that when we took all of the hotel snacks out of the fridge in order to store some of our food, we got charged for all of it. I put everything back though, while Mitch went to discuss the charges, and the hotel was very gracious and removed them.
We didn't have to rush off to the airport because we were already there, and as we began our journey, we left at 3pm for Phoenix. When we landed, we were only going to have an hour to get to our gate at the other end of the terminal, but the plane taxied for an extra long time, giving us only about 35 minutes. As we arrived at our new gate, we found that the plane was delayed about an hour because there were 40 passengers on a connecting flight that was coming in late. We decided that it was really great of the airline to hold the plane since there aren't flights every hour to Maui, so we took the time to grab a small pizza and a bag of chips for the flight.
After 6 hours in the air, we landed, swollen feet and all. I've decided that once we get home from Hawaii, I will no longer fly in flip flops! I seriously thought my skin was going to explode on my feet.
When we got our bags and got out of the terminal, there was a woman waiting for us with Leis. Mitch and Sharon (our wonderful travel agent, and my mom's Joanna (bff)) sent that up for me. It was so great.
We stopped at Krispy Kreme and ordered our only room service for the week that night. The next day, we got a better idea of the view out of our window. It turns out that on this side of the hotel, floor 5 is actually ground level, and has a parking lot view. It was also accompanied by the beautiful Hawaiian sounds of the loading dock.
