New Appliances

We took advantage of the Memorial Day weekend sales, and bought an energy star dishwasher, and a new stove with a flat top range. They are both the clear something...it looks like stainless, but it's magnetic. Anyway, they were having no tax on energy star appliance, no delivery fees, 10% off all appliances, and we got a $50 gift card for getting 2 GE appliances in one trip. We waited until late that evening to go because we didn't want to get stuck in long lines. It worked. At 9:30 at night, we were pretty much the only ones in Home Depot. Our salesman was really friendly and helpful. We got a Home Depot credit card, and he gave us all of our paperwork. The delivery date was scheduled for yesterday.

By late morning, I was concerned that nobody had called to schedule our time, so I called the store. Our salesman happened to answer the phone, and when he looked us up, he realized that our delivery had been cancelled because we hadn't paid for the appliances. WHAT?!? What do you mean we didn't pay for them??? He told us that he would be working until 5, and apologized profusely for the, mix up, saying that it was his fault. He also said that we could get delivery on Wednesday. I was ok with that.

When we got to HD, he was at lunch, so a lady tried to help us. She wasn't sure if she could give us the same discount or not, and she kept asking questions about information that I had provided to her in the packet that the original salesman had given us. Eventually she got the permission to give us ALL of the previous discounts, as well as another $25 gift card for buying an energy star appliance this weekend. So, not only did we get the energy star promo from 2 weeks ago, but we got the one from this week. When it's all said and done, we ended up with $1100 worth of stuff for $775. I'd say we did pretty well!

The best way I can figure it is that the salesman was pretty zonked from the crazy day, and didn't realize that he hadn't told us to pay up front. Since we had applied for a credit card, signed a few different papers with the prices of the items on them, and my parents had just paid in the appliances section that same day, we assumed that the items had been paid for on the new credit card. The salesman told us to go up to the front to get copies of the papers so that we would have extras for the rebates and the delivery, and we said that we would just do it at work. It was all just one big misunderstanding, but in the end, it's going to be 2 MORE weeks before our things come in!
